For properties in New South Wales, we monitor public safety alerts from the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS). If an alert may impact your property, we’ll share the official information with you so you can understand what’s happening and make informed decisions about your bookings.
What should I do if I receive an alert?
Check the official emergency alert linked in the email and follow any advice from emergency services.
If the alert may affect current or upcoming bookings, we recommend sending your Hipcampers a Hipcamp Message to share any relevant information and discuss a plan.
Do I need to cancel my bookings if I receive an alert?
Receiving a safety alert doesn’t necessarily mean you need to cancel your bookings. However, if conditions make it unsafe to Host, you should cancel.
If you believe it’s no longer safe to Host, you can cancel the booking from your calendar using the reason 'hazardous conditions'. If you cancel, your Camper will receive a full refund.
What happens if a Camper wants to cancel?
If a Camper decides to cancel, your cancellation policy will still apply. They may be eligible for a credit under Hipcamp’s Natural Disaster Policy if the circumstances meet the policy requirements. If the booking does meet the requirements you won't receive a payout for that booking. Receiving a safety alert doesn’t necessarily mean the circumstances meet the criteria for a credit.
