It depends on who canceled and the policy for your trip
Your refund amount is based on:
- Whether you (the camper) or the Host canceled
- The cancellation policy that applied at the time of booking
You can always review your cancellation terms and refund eligibility by visiting your Trips page.
If you cancel your booking (Hipcamper cancellations)
Your refund depends on the Host’s cancellation policy, which was shown at checkout and is available on your Trips page.
- Refundable bookings: You’ll receive the refund amount shown during cancellation.
- Partially refundable bookings: You’ll receive a portion of your total, based on the policy.
- Non-refundable bookings: No refund is issued.
You’ll see your exact refund amount before you confirm the cancellation.
Hipcamp's service fee is non-refundable when you cancel your trip — even if your booking qualifies for a full or partial refund. Only if a Host cancels your trip will the service fee be refunded in full.
When will I get my refund?
When eligible, your refund is issued immediately after cancellation. It may take 7–10 business days for your bank to process it (though it usually happens faster). You’ll also receive an email with your refund details and receipt.
What if I cancel outside the policy but my Host agrees to a refund?
If your Host agrees to issue a refund after your cancellation, they’ll need to confirm this through their Host tools. Read more here: How can I request a refund for my trip?
If your Host cancels your booking
If a Host cancels your trip (for example, due to weather or site issues), you’ll receive a full refund, including the Hipcamp service fee.
We issue this refund immediately (though it may take up to 10 business days for your bank to process it) and you’ll get an email confirmation.
