If your campground was listed by Hipcamp and you haven’t yet verified your listing, we may place bookings with you on behalf of campers who find your listing on Hipcamp. In these cases, you might not speak to the camper in person—but you’ll still receive all the key details you need to host the camper successfully.
This article explains exactly what information we provide and how communication and payments work when Hipcamp places the booking for you.
We provide all the details you’d normally need
When a camper books through Hipcamp, we place the reservation with you just like a camper would—through your online system, PMS, or over the phone.
We’ll follow your usual booking process and provide all essential details, including:
- The camper’s name
- Number of guests and vehicle details
- The dates and site(s) they wish to book
- An email address and phone number you can use to reach them
This ensures you have everything you’d normally expect when someone books with you directly.
If your booking process requires any extra or highly specific details, we’ll follow up with the camper and collect that information for you.
You’ll still be able to contact the camper
We’ll provide both an email address and a phone number you can use to reach the camper. While these contact details are routed through Hipcamp to protect camper privacy, your messages will still be delivered directly to the camper—and they’ll be able to reply just like normal.
This helps maintain smooth communication without requiring you to change your usual process.
That said, for any cancellations or booking changes, we recommend contacting Hipcamp Support first. This allows us to coordinate directly with the camper, streamline the update, and ensure that any charges or refunds are processed accurately.
We provide card details to handle payments
When a camper books through Hipcamp, they pay us in full at the time of booking. We then place the reservation with your campground using our own payment card—just like a camper would.
If your system allows for deposits or installments, we’ll still follow your usual payment terms when placing the booking. You’ll process the payment as normal, and we’ll cover the cost.
In short: For you, it’s just a regular booking with payment details on file.
