There are several ways in which you can accept or decline a Booking Request:
Responding via SMS/text message
I accidentally declined or expired a booking request but I want to accept it
Responding to a Request to Book via email
Whenever a Hipcamper sends a Request to Book, you will receive an email. The email will contain the booking details as well as the message from the Hipcamper. From that email, you are able to either accept or decline that request. If you would like to speak with the Hipcamper before accepting the booking, you can click "Send camper a message” to be taken to your Hipcamp Inbox.
Responding via your Hipcamp Inbox
When you receive a new Request to Book, it will appear in your Inbox as an ‘unread’ message. You can either accept or decline the booking using the buttons in the message thread.
You can even sort your Hipcamp Inbox by “pending messages” to see all of your pending requests.
Responding via the Hipcamp app
When you receive a new Request to Book, it will appear in your Inbox in the app as an ‘unread’ message. You can either accept or decline the booking using the buttons in the message thread.
You can also sort your app Inbox by “pending messages” to see all of your pending requests.
Responding to a Request to Book via SMS/text message (US)
Please note: Only US Hosts can respond to Request to Books via SMS.
If your Hipcamp is a Request To Book campsite and you are using a mobile phone number on your Host profile, you'll receive a text message from Hipcamp (in addition to an email) whenever a Hipcamper submits a booking request.
We strongly recommend you use a mobile phone number on your account so that you can receive these text messages and easily respond to booking requests as they come in.
The text includes this helpful information:
- Booking number
- Booking date
- Number of nights
- Site number
- Hipcamper name
- Booking total
- Hipcamper's introduction message
You can also reply to this text message to talk to your potential Hipcamper to ask any questions or to get any clarifications. These replies will also show up under your Hipcamp Messages.
Special note: You cannot call the number associated with the text to speak to the Hipcamper (or Hipcamp Support). The number is part of an automated system. The Hipcamper's phone number is located in your calendar - look there if you need to give them a ring!
Accepting a Booking Request via SMS
To accept a booking, simply reply with this text back:
- Accept
Send it as its own text with no other words or punctuation in the message - that's it!
Declining a Booking Request via SMS
To accept a booking and have the dates be blocked on your calendar in the future so that you don't get additional requests for those dates, reply with this text back:
- Decline
Again, send it as its own text with no other words or punctuation in the message.
If you want to decline the booking but keep the dates open on your calendar, reply with this text:
- Decline On
Once again, send it as its own text with no other words or punctuation in the message.
Responding to Multiple Booking Requests via SMS:
If you have multiple requests at once that need to be responded to, you will have to include the booking number in your text which is provided to you in the initial message. That way, the system will know which booking to accept or decline.
This is what your texts should look like if you have more than one booking waiting for a response:
- Accept 123456 (to accept booking 123456)
- Decline 123456 (to decline booking 123456 and block the dates on your calendar)
- Decline 123456 On (to decline booking 123456 and keep the dates open on your calendar)
I accidentally declined or expired a booking request but I want to accept it
Unfortunately, you’re not able to retroactively accept a booking request once it has been declined or expired. If you wanted to accept a booking, you can message the Hipcamper back and ask them to re-submit a booking request.
