Yes. Hipcamp requires you to use your real full name—not a pseudonym, nickname, or initials—when creating your profile. As a trust-based community, this is an important first step toward building safe and respectful connections between Hosts and campers.
Booking on behalf of someone else
Unless you've made specific arrangements with the Host, the person who makes the booking should also be the person taking the trip and acting as the main point of contact.
If you're booking on behalf of someone else, you must get clear agreement from the Host in advance.
Privacy and what Hosts see
We take your privacy seriously. Only your first name and last initial will appear on your public profile or in a Host’s booking calendar.
You can preview your public profile here as long as you’re logged in.
If you go by a different name
If the name you use day-to-day is different from your legal name and you'd prefer to use that on Hipcamp, please contact our Support team to request an exception. Unless you’ve received approval, you’ll need to use your legal name when creating your account.
What happens if you don’t?
If your profile is reported for using a fake or incomplete name, we’ll follow up with you directly to make corrections.
We reserve the right to cancel bookings made under a name that isn’t full and accurate.
