Seek an agreement with the Host
Wanting to make a booking on behalf of another person?
Unless specific arrangement has been made with a Host, the person making the booking should be the person going on the trip.
If you are booking on behalf of another person, this needs to be clarified with the Host prior to booking. You should have their clear agreement in writing via Hipcamp Messages before proceeding through the booking process.
Hosts have full authority over their decision to host third-party bookings through Hipcamp and this decision should be respected.
You can read more on contacting a Host with questions here: How do I contact a Host?
The Host has agreed to a third-party booking
If the Host has agreed, it is important that they have access to the on-site camper’s name and contact information. This can be shared with the Host via Hipcamp messages after booking, or you can update the phone number on your account to that of the attending guest.
Booking information (including rules, arrival instructions & amenities) should be provided to the person attending. The easiest way to do this is to add the attending camper as an ‘invited guest’ on the booking. This will allow them to view the booking confirmation.
The Host has not agreed to a third-party booking
If the Host has not agreed to a third party booking and does not want to host it, they are able to cancel it without penalty.
Consider using a gift card instead
A recommended alternative to making a third-party booking is to give the gift of a Hipcamp Gift card! More info here: Where can I buy a Gift Card?
