We know plans can change! If you need to modify your trip—including changing your dates, number of guests, or vehicles—you can usually do that directly from your Trips page.
Before making changes, it's a good idea to review your Host’s cancellation policy. If your booking is already close to the check-in date, you may not be eligible for a refund if your changes result in a shorter or less expensive stay. In those cases, your Host’s policy will determine how much, if any, you’ll be refunded.
This guide walks you through the following:
How to change your trip dates
On the Hipcamp website
- Login to Hipcamp (use the same account you used to book the trip)
- Visit your Trips Page
- Click the Trip Page button on the booking you want to update
- Click the Modify trip button
- Select your new trip dates
- Click Confirm charge

- If it's an Instant Book trip, the modification will be confirmed immediately.
- If it's a Request to Book trip, the Host will be sent a new request and has 24 hours to respond. If they don't respond or if they decline, your original trip details will remain and you can cancel your booking or message the Host to make alternate plans.

On a mobile browser
- Login to Hipcamp (use the same account you used to book the trip)
- Tap the 3 horizontal lines at the top left of the page
- Select Trips
- Find the trip you want to update and tap Trips page
- Scroll past the Trip details and tap the Modify trip button
- Select the new dates you'd like to stay and click Review
- If an additional charge applies, your receipt will update accordingly before confirming
- Click Confirm charge to finalize the change
On the Hipcamp App
- Launch the Hipcamp app
- Tap on the Trips icon at the bottom of the screen
- Select the booking you want to modify
- Scroll down and tap Modify trip
- Click on the new dates and click Review at the bottom
- If an additional charge applies, your receipt will update accordingly before confirming
- If everything is correct, click Submit
Will I be charged or refunded?
If your updated trip costs more (for example, if you add more guests or extend your stay), you will clearly be shown the updated costs before confirming.
If your new total is lower, you may be eligible for a refund—but this depends on how close you are to your check-in date and the Host’s cancellation policy. Some bookings may be non-refundable or only partially refundable at the time you make changes.
Examples:
- Shortening a trip without enough notice: Your Host has a “Strict” policy (no refunds within 7 days). You shorten your stay 4 days before check-in. You will not be refunded for the cancelled nights.
- Shortening a trip with notice: Your Host has a “Moderate” policy (no refunds within 3 days). You shorten your stay 4 days before check-in. You’ll receive a refund for the cancelled nights (minus fees).
- Changing to new dates without enough notice: Your Host has a “Strict” policy (no refunds within 7 days). You move your trip from this weekend to next, 4 days before check-in. You won’t be refunded for the original stay, and you’ll be charged for the new dates.
- Changing to new dates with notice: Your Host has a “Moderate” policy (no refunds within 3 days). You move your trip from this weekend to next, 4 days before check-in. Provided the price that weekend is the same, you will not incur any new costs.
You’ll always see your updated total and any refund (if applicable) during the modification process.
🔹 Hipcamp’s service fee is non-refundable unless your Host cancels the booking.

Don’t see the “Modify Trip” button?
There are a couple of reasons you might not see the Modify Trip option on your Trips page. Either way, we can help—the next step just depends on how your booking was made.
If your booking included a discount or promo code:
The Modify Trip tool isn’t available yet for these bookings. But you can still make changes:
- Message your Host via Hipcamp to confirm your new dates.
- Once your Host has approved, contact Hipcamp Support and we’ll adjust the booking for you.
If your booking was placed through one of our campground partners:
These bookings aren’t editable through Hipcamp just yet. But no worries—you’ll see a link on your Trips page that says "contact Hipcamp Suppot". Fill it out the form and our team will update your trip details and confirm the changes.
