How to change your trip dates on desktop
- Login to your Hipcamp account
- Make sure you log into the same account you used to book the trip!
- Visit your Trips Page
- Click the Trip Page button on the specific booking you're looking to update
- Click the Modify trip button and select your new trip dates
- Be sure to check you have entered the correct check-in and checkout date
- Review your changes and click Confirm charge to submit the update

- If this is an 'Instant Book' trip, the modification will be confirmed right away.
- If this is a 'Request to Book' trip, the Host will be sent a new request that they have 24 hours to respond to.
If they don't respond to the request or if it is declined, your original trip details will remain in place, and you can decide to cancel your booking or message the Host to figure out an alternate plan.

- Login to your Hipcamp account on your mobile device
- Tap the 3 horizontal lines at the top left of the page
- Select Trips
- Find the trip you'd like to update and tap Trips page
- Scroll past the Trip details and select the Modify trip button
- Select the new dates you'd like to stay and click Review
- If an additional charge applies, your receipt will update accordingly before confirming
- Click Confirm charge to finalize the change

- Launch the Hipcamp app
- Tap on the Trips icon at the bottom of the screen to open your Trips page
- Select the booking you would like to modify
- Scroll down until you see Modify trip
- Click on the new dates and click Review at the bottom
- If an additional charge applies, your receipt will update accordingly before confirming
- If everything is correct, click Submit
Will I be refunded?
Refunds will be processed according to your Host's cancellation window, which is shown on your Trip Page. For instance, if you remove a day from your booking and are within your Host's cancellation window, you will be refunded for that day according to your Host's cancellation policy. If your Host's cancellation window has passed, you will not receive a refund for the date that is removed.
We issue refunds immediately but your bank can take up to 10 business days to post the refund to your account, although it is usually quicker than that. Please keep that timeline in mind when checking for the arrival of your refund.
Why was I charged a fee for modifying my trip?
Please keep your Host's cancellation policy in mind when modifying a booking. If you change the dates outside of your Host's cancellation policy, you will be charged as if you're canceling/rebooking the trip. This is not a fee for the modification itself but is a charge for new dates when the original dates are not eligible for a refund due to the Hosts set cancellation policy.
- Example - changing booking dates: Your trip is tomorrow and you want to move your booking from this weekend to next weekend. The Host has a Strict cancel policy that requires a cancellation a week in advance in order for a refund to be issued. When moving your booking dates, you will not be refunded for the previous days that you had on the Host's calendar and you will be charged to book the new days you are requesting in the future.
- Example - removing dates: Your trip is tomorrow and you want to remove 2 nights from your booking. The Host has a Moderate cancel policy that requires a cancellation 3 days in advance in order for a refund to be issued. You will not be refunded for the 2 removed nights. The amount that wasn’t refunded will show on your receipt as a ‘modification fee’.
Please note: If you add or remove people from the total headcount of a booking, you will not be charged a modification or cancellation fee for that type of modification. You will only be charged or refunded the amount the Host charges for additional campers.
The Hosts on Hipcamp have full authority when it comes to their cancellation policies. If you have any questions about modifying or canceling a trip outside of the Host's cancellation policy, we recommend reaching out to the Host.
How to change your trip dates if the 'Modify Trip' tool is not available for your booking
If you don't see the 'Modify Trip' button on your Trips Page, it's likely because you booked with a discount code. The modify booking tool will be available soon for all bookings, but in the meantime, the Support Team is glad to help you out! Follow these steps to change the dates of your booking:
- Confirm your new dates with your Host via Hipcamp messages.
- Once your Host has approved your new dates, please reach out to our Support team to adjust your dates. You can do so here.
