🚨Communicate Emergency Procedures
Provide up-to-date emergency numbers for police, fire, or ambulance, and the nearest hospital or medical centre. Post this information somewhere visible on site.
📞Provide A Local Point of Contact
You or an emergency contact must be available by phone or email 24/7 during each reservation, within a one hour drive of the Property, and able to respond within one hour to complaints.
🔥Educate About Fire Prevention
Provide Hipcampers with clear guidance on fire safety. Explain whether campfires are allowed, how to prepare a safe fire pit, and how to fully extinguish a fire. You may want to reference a resource such as this campfire safety website or the Hazards near me app for NSW, Australian Hosts. See more resources here.
🐻Educate About Natural Dangers
Inform campers about common local risks, such as wildlife (ticks, snakes, spiders, mountain lions, bears etc.), poisonous plants, extreme weather, flood-prone areas, or other natural hazards. Highlight any precautions or safety measures guests should follow.
👥Limit Occupancy
Avoid overcrowding in buildings, tents, or other structures. Follow manufacturer recommendations for temporary structures and check local regulations for building occupancy limits.
🚧Minimize Hazards
Ensure any structures on your property are safely constructed and up to code. Remove, fence off, or clearly mark hazards on your land to keep guests safe.
