Yes—you’re in control. If you’d prefer not to receive bookings through Hipcamp, we can turn that feature off for you.
What happens when bookings are turned off?
Your listing will remain visible on Hipcamp, in order to ensure we maintain a comprehensive directory of everywhere you can camp in the US. But campers won’t be able to make a reservation through our platform. Instead, it will state clearly on your listing “Not currently taking bookings on Hipcamp.”
Your campground will still benefit from discovery by millions of campers, without receiving any bookings you’re not ready for.
Why is Hipcamp sending me bookings?
If you haven’t verified your listing yet, Hipcamp may place bookings on your behalf using the same process a camper would—through your website, reservation platform, or phone line. This helps get more campers outside while helping you fill sites with minimal extra work.
But if you’re not interested in receiving free bookings this way, that’s absolutely fine. Just let us know.
How can I stop or pause bookings?
Simple—contact our Support team and request to pause or opt out of bookings. We’ll take care of it and confirm once bookings have been turned off for your listing.
Want more control instead?
If your campground is open and you’d like to manage how and when you accept bookings, verifying your listing is the way to go. Verification gives you access to:
- Calendar sync and availability settings
- Pricing and rules management
- The ability to pause bookings at any time
- Full control over how your property appears on Hipcamp
