When a listing page appears on Hipcamp with a “Verify your listing” button, it means Hipcamp created the page using publicly available information so that campers can discover and book the campground—but the listing has not been claimed by the owner yet.
We’ve done this because we want to provide campers with truly comprehensive travel information. It ensures campers find places to stay and helps campground owners reach more guests.
This article explains what it means to have an unverified listing, how bookings work, and how to verify your listing if you are the property owner.
What happens if I don’t verify?
If you own the property and you choose not to verify your listing, your listing may still receive bookings, and we’ll handle them on your behalf. When a camper makes a reservation on a free Hipcamp listing:
- We’ll place the booking directly with your campground, just like a regular guest would
- You’ll receive all the usual booking information (camper name, dates, group size, etc.)
- We’ll ensure the camper can reach you, and you can reach them, as with any other booking
- This process is completely free for you. We’re not charging you commission, and you don’t need to do anything to start receiving these bookings.
