Yes! If your property has a lot of wildlife activity, you can still sign up to Host through Hipcamp. With that in mind, setting expectations in your Property description is key. When setting up or editing your Property, we recommend that you be very clear about the possibility of encountering wildlife in your area.
Here are some helpful tips that you could include in your description and rules:
- Require that campers keep all food stored away in a bear box or a vehicle while not in use.
- If you allow pets to accompany campers, consider adding a rule that pets be kept on a leash while on the property to prevent them from chasing or encountering wildlife.
- Provide examples of the types of wildlife in your area. If there are bears, coyotes, wildcats, or any other potentially dangerous critters, be sure to make that very clear in your description.
The Hipcamp Insurance Policy protects you if a camper were to be injured on your property. The best insurance is avoiding incidents altogether - be thoughtful about implementing proper safety measures and setting clear rules to help Hipcampers have safe trips.
