Wikicamps is an Australian app that users purchase, listing camping sites across Australia. It's a bit like the white pages of campsites. The content in the app is generated from users within the Wikicamps community.
Hipcamp is not affiliated with Wikicamps but we do encourage you to get to know how the Wikicamps app works and use it to generate bookings via Hipcamp.
Anyone who has purchased the app, at any time, can add or edit campground information in the Wikicamps directory (without the property owner’s permission). Users can add campground location, address, phone number, comments, prices, and photos.
We recommend you create your own Wikicamps listing, otherwise, chances are someone from the Wikicamps community will do it without your input!
Step 1: Download the Wikicamps app onto your phone and create a directory listing by clicking 'Add a New Site'.
Step 2: Add your Property Name and State, and where it asks for your website, add your Hipcamp URL. (a URL is the website link to your Hipcamp property, such as this https://www.hipcamp.com/queensland/jandarra-camping/jandarra). If you aren't sure what your URL is, ask us!
IMPORTANT: Do not list any other contact details. In the address and phone number fields we recommend indicating “Only pre-bookings accepted”. Wikicamps travellers are known to make last-minute bookings when they are on the road, or just turn up (if your address is given). It's critical all bookings are funneled through your Hipcamp listing so you have the Hipcamp insurance coverage.
Step 3: Add a short description of your property. We recommend also adding a comment such as "Our property is now open to campers but all bookings must be made in advance via the Hipcamp website”.
Step 4: Select the site features that are relevant, and then press Save.
Check your Wikicamps listing regularly to ensure another user hasn’t updated your address and phone number. It is possible to remove a listing from Wikicamps. Head to the Wikicamps website to find contact details. If you're having issues removing your listing, please contact us.
