Having proper insurance in place that covers camping activities is required to be a Host on Hipcamp. The Hipcamp Insurance Policy covers many of our Hosts, but it does not provide coverage for commercial campgrounds. However, most of these commercial campgrounds should have their own insurance plans that will allow them to Host on Hipcamp.
Commercial campgrounds are licensed businesses that specialize in offering campsites professionally, and camping is the primary business taking place on that land.
If you are the Host of a commercial campground, it is up to you to read your policy carefully and be aware of what it does and does not cover. You will need to ensure that your campers conduct themselves in a way that isn't violating any terms of your insurance policy.
Additionally, Hipcamp currently provides insurance to the US, CAN, AUS, NZ and UK. If you would like to Host on Hipcamp outside of these territories, you need to find your own insurance to cover your property, as well as any potential Campers and their property.
By agreeing to use your own insurance to Host on Hipcamp, you are confirming that you are adequately covered under your own policy in accordance with your local laws and regulations surrounding camping, and that you understand you are not protected under the Hipcamp Insurance Policy.
