Hipcamp is now collecting taxes on your behalf in these states
Following guidance from state governments, we are collecting and remitting all relevant sales and occupancy taxes on behalf of Hosts in Maine, Montana, Utah, and Washington.
Campers see an additional single line item for taxes when booking your property. This single line item will represent a combination of all relevant taxes (sales + occupancy) that need to be collected for your state.
This will not impact your net Host earnings - the specific Host payout amount will be the same before and after Hipcamp started collecting and remitting taxes on your behalf.
Specific details in regards to Maine
These taxes have been charged to newly made reservations since April 2022, and Hipcamp has been remitting taxes on your behalf since that time. You don't need to take any action as a Host to ensure these taxes are paid.
