Hipcamp Mates is a community of people on social media who love Hipcamp. Check out some of the fun on Instagram at #hipcampmate and #hipcampmates.
Who are they?
Each season the Marketing team selects 10 Hipcamp Mates to share their Hipcamp adventures. Hipcamp gives the Hipcamp Mates Hipcash spending money per month to book their trips. You can view our latest season of Mates here: campaigns.hipcamp.com/mates
How does it work?
The Mates will book their stay and enjoy themselves like a regular camper. They’ll introduce themselves to Hosts when they make a booking, and they’ll take photos and video footage during their stay that they’ll post on their social media and share with their friends and followers. We’ll share that content too! This gives a great lift in bookings and enquiries for Hipcamp locations.
How do I apply to be a Hipcamp Mate?
Each season we welcome a new round of 10 Mates. We follow seasons, e.g. Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. We call for applications via Instagram and email at the beginning of the month prior to the season changeover. So for Autumn mates, we’ll start that search in February.
I’ve applied in the past and haven’t been selected as a Mate, any tips for getting selected?
We’re looking for people who use and love Hipcamp! This means we’re looking for active Hipcampers who are already sharing the love of Hipcamp on their own accord, and engaging with us on social media (Instagram in particular). So make sure you tag us in content during your stays. If you haven’t been on any Hipcamps yet, a great place to start is booking some trips and tagging us in some Instagram stories and Reels.
I’m a Host, do I still get paid?
Yes, Hipcamp covers the cost of the stay. You’ll be paid just like a regular booking.
I’m a Host, what does this mean for me?
Hipcamp Mates are just like regular campers. They’ll introduce themselves when they make a booking, they’re not fancy influencers, they’re just regular Hipcampers who use and love HIpcamp. They’re going to stay at your place, have a good time, take some photos and videos and share with their friends on social media. We’ll share that content too. Your Hipcamp will benefit from the extra attention!
I’m a Host, what if I don’t want my property featured?
No problem at all, just tell the Mate and they’ll enjoy their stay without sharing content from their stay. However, most campers do take photos and share their adventures with their friends, so it’s not really any different to this.
