To prepare your property for photos, there are four key aspects to consider:
Landscaping + Cleanup
- Tidy up your property to improve your photos. Mow the area around your site, remove all surrounding clutter or unnecessary items, and do any basic landscaping to make your site appear tidy and organized for your photos.
Staging the Site
- The main goal of photography is to reduce uncertainty and help Hipcampers imagine what it’s like to stay at your property. Work with your photographer to stage a campsite (If you have a tent-listing)! By simply setting up a tent, your photos will help Hipcampers envision what it’s like to stay at your property, and make photos more attractive. Add some extra flair to your photos by lighting a campfire (if applicable), setting up some chairs, a lantern, roasting sticks—whatever Hipcampers might enjoy at your property!
- The best time to take photos of your property is the “the golden hour” just before dusk (around an hour before sunset), when the light is even and soft across the sky. This will give your images a warm and glowy feel. Avoid taking mid-afternoon images due to the harsh lighting, and make sure to fit your photos in before it gets too dark outside.
- Take photos on a day with blue skies and sunshine, so they appear warm and inviting. Avoid overcast or rainy days, which can make images appear solemn and spooky. And make sure your property is looking good! If your property is especially muddy after a storm, for example, give it time to recover before you take photos.
If you’re not able to clean up the site before the booking date, contact the photographer to reschedule to a day/time that works!
