When a booking ends, the Hipcamper who stayed on your property will receive an email asking them to submit feedback about their stay.
They are asked whether they would recommend your listing to others. Their options are "Yes", "No" and "Maybe". Each answer to this question will contribute to your listing's recommendation rate.
Yes = 100% recommendation
Maybe = 50% recommendation
No = 0% recommendation
Your recommendation rate is an average based on the scores from Hipcampers. For example, if a listing received 5 ratings, 2 Maybe votes, and 3 Yes votes, then the recommendation rate would be 80%. That is (100+100+100+50+50)/5 = 80.
Only after 3 ratings from Hipcampers will a listing have a recommendation score displayed on Hipcamp.
Properties will also have recommendation rates. If your property has multiple listings, your recommendation rate on your property page will be an average of all of your listing's recommendation rates. Here is an example of the recommendation rate on a property page:
Please note that Hipcampers can leave a recommendation rating and opt not to leave written feedback. However, they must leave a recommendation rating before they can provide a written review. For more information about reviews, please check out this FAQ: How do public reviews work on Hipcamp?
Tips on improving your recommendation percentage:
- Take private and public feedback from your Hipcampers into account
- Be responsive and available
- Make sure your directions are correct and your listing is accurately portrayed, well-maintained, and safe
