Selecting the correct accommodation type helps Hipcampers to understand whether or not you are providing accommodations for them (such as a cabin, tent, or yurt).
If you do not provide accommodations it can also help them identify which type of accommodation you allow them to bring (Tent or Vehicle camping).
Updating the Accommodation Type
We are testing a new site/unit editor so some of our Hosts will see the new site/unit editor on their Property tab of the Host Dashboard, instead of the existing Listing editor. You can find instructions for both below.
In the new site editor:
- Click on Property from your Host Dashboard
- Click on Sites located next to ‘Overview’
- Click Edit next to the site you would like to edit
- Click on Accommodation type on the left side of the screen
- Click Edit
- Select the accommodation type
- Click Done
Note: If you have selected a Lodging when creating the site, you will only be able to change the accommodation type to another lodging. If you have selected a campsite, you will only be able to change the type of accommodation that you allow them to bring (RVs, tents, or car camping).
You can’t change from a campsite to a lodging and vice versa.
In the old Listing editor:
- Click on Property from your Host Dashboard
- Click on Edit Listing next to the Listing you would like to update
- Click on Accommodations on the left side of the screen
- Update the accommodation type
- Click Save changes at the bottom of the page
In the tabs of the first box, you can indicate whether or not it is a campsite or if you offer a provided accommodation (you can select more than one). You can then select what kind of accommodation you offer and what campers can bring to the campsite.

If you select Vehicles, you'll be prompted to provide additional information about what types of vehicles you allow.
